When God Keeps Whispering One Word: Hope

Good morning, Faith and Fire.
Have you ever asked God a question and then one word just keeps returning to you?
It shows up in your mind while you are making coffee.
It comes back while you are driving.
You try to move on, but the word stays.
That happened to me recently.
I woke up and asked God, “What do you want me to talk about today?”
And the word that kept coming back was simple.
Hope.
My first thought after hearing it was, "That's a beautiful word." But then I started wondering, why that word, today?
Then I sat quietly for a moment and really listened.
Sometimes we forget to ask an important question.
Where do our thoughts come from?
Not every thought that runs through our mind belongs there. Some come from fear. Some from exhaustion. Some from the lies the enemy whispers when we are vulnerable.
But some thoughts feel different.
They are calm.
They are steady.
They pull us closer to God instead of away from Him.
Those thoughts often carry truth.
Scripture reminds us of this in a powerful way.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
Fear shouts.
God often speaks quietly.
And that morning, the quiet word was hope.

When Life Feels Heavy
If you are reading this today and your heart feels tired, I want you to know something first.
You are not strange for feeling that way.
Life has a way of stretching us.
Marriage can be complicated.
Healing takes time.
Prayers sometimes feel unanswered.
And some days faith feels harder than we expected.
I have had those seasons too.
Moments where I wondered if things would ever change. Moments where silence from heaven felt confusing. Moments where my heart felt bruised and worn out.
Maybe you are there right now.
You keep showing up.
You keep praying.
But deep down you wonder if God still sees you.
Friend, He does.
God never wastes pain. Not one tear. Not one sleepless night. Not one prayer whispered through exhaustion.
He is doing something even when we cannot see it.
Romans 8:28 reminds us of this truth.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Not some things.
All things.
Even the parts that make no sense yet.

The Season That Tests Our Faith
As we move toward the Easter season, I have been thinking about what Jesus walked through before the cross.
Forty days in the wilderness.
Hungry.
Tired.
Tempted.
The enemy waited for the moment when Jesus was physically weak.
That is often how spiritual battles work.
The enemy watches for the moments when we are discouraged, lonely, or uncertain. That is when lies start creeping in.
You are not enough.
God forgot about you.
Nothing will change.
But those lies collapse when they stand next to truth.
Because the same Jesus who was tempted in the wilderness also walked out of the grave.
The cross looked like defeat.
But it was actually the beginning of hope for the entire world.
Why Hope Matters So Much
Hope is not wishful thinking.
Hope is confidence in who God is.
Hope says the story is not finished.
Hope says God is still writing.
Hope says broken things are not the end.
Hebrews 10:23 says it beautifully.
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”
Faithful.
That word matters.
God does not start stories He plans to abandon.
And if you belong to Him, your life is one of those stories.

When God Feels Silent
One of the hardest moments in faith is when heaven seems quiet.
You pray and hear nothing.
You wait, and nothing moves.
But silence does not mean absence.
Sometimes God is doing deep work inside us that cannot happen any other way.
He refines us.
He strengthens us.
He draws us closer.
Through heartbreak, silence, and surrender, God never wastes our pain. He uses every trial to refine us, restore us, and draw us closer to Him.
Looking back, many of the seasons that felt the darkest were actually the ones where God was shaping me the most.
At the time I could not see it.
Now I can.
A Reminder for Today
If the word "hope" keeps coming back to you lately, it might not be random.
It might be an invitation.
Lift your eyes again.
Trust again.
Surrender again.
Not because life is perfect.
But because God is still present.
Psalm 34:18 says,
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Close.
Not distant.
Not distracted.
Close.
Your Story Is Not Finished
If today feels heavy, take a slow breath and hear this truth.
God still speaks.
God still restores.
God still writes beautiful endings from broken beginnings.
You may feel like you are in the wilderness season.
But resurrection is coming.
The same God who rolled away the stone is still working in your life today.
So hold on to the word.
Hope.
Not because everything is easy.
But because God is faithful.
And He is not finished with your story.
God bless you today, Faith and Fire.
You are not alone.
Love and light to you always,
Heather M Larribas
